Session 1: 3D design-Printing the future
3D printing is a new tool in education.  However, many schools do not understand how 3D design and printing can work in a school.  The session will accomplish three goals.  First, show you where 3D printing is headed and the uses in a school.  Second, how to work with TinkerCad, a freeware 3D design program and 3D scanners and scanning programs. Finally, actually create and print using the printer.  You will need to bring a laptop to use in the session.  You can use an iPad to design, but designing is difficult with an iPad.
This session is for k-12 teachers as well as administrators.  Please create an account on Tinkercad.com.  We will specifically be using this website for the class.

Session 2:Spark Page - A Creative Solution for Engaging Students
The proposed session shall provide hands-on training on Visual and Digital Storytelling App - Spark Page. The potential of this app lies far beyond just sharing stories.

This session will focus on 3 ideas:

Idea 1 – Flipped Classrooms

Spark Videos and Pages are an excellent way to flip your classroom and have it look good. Students can visit the video or page as often as they like outside of class.

Idea 2 – Metacognition and Reflection

Get your students thinking about their learning by asking them to create a Page or Video (or a Page with embedded Video!) about their learning.

Idea 3 – Authentic Assessment & Feedback

Because Adobe Spark is so easy to use and update, teachers can create feedback Pages or Videos for each student. The link can be shared with the student and their parents privately so that everyone is “in the loop” about the student’s learning.

Pre-requisites:

1. For hands-on-experience, participants will need one device (iPad/Tablet/Laptop) during the session.

2. If you are using iPad, may you download ‘Adobe Spark Page’ before the session.

3. Enthusiasm to Explore-Engage-Excel

Session 2:The 5 Cs in Education- What if…?
We live in a time and space when it is is truer than ever that “change is the only constant”.

What are some cultural shifts in our fast-changing world, that have an impact on our own learning as educators and leaders? How do we adapt to this in a school environment? Can we dwell on our experience and degrees as educators and continue to stay relevant? Learning how to learn might be the most important skill we did not learn when we were in school. Do you have to be a tech guru to be literate in a digital world? Or are the ones who are self- motivated, life-long learners and the ones who are accepting of and embracing change the ones flourishing in the modern world? We will take a look at the urgency of shifting school culture to a culture of learning how to learn in order to connect, communicate, collaborate and create and support critical thinking.

Session 4: Strike a chord, bring a balance, and smile
Every year, some of the great teachers and their students create both personal and professional goals. ‘At the end of the term I want to…’ such lines are very commonly seen in students and teachers’ profile. However, due to time constraint and several other unavoidable circumstances, most of us either fail or achieve the set goals partially.

Imagine a tool that would keep us on track to not only achieve our goals but also help in teaching and learning processes – timely, effectively and with ease. This session will mainly focus on how a simple tool helps in keeping busy teachers and students connected and organized – a tool that is handy, effective and compatible.
